DYNAPAC
DYNAPAC is a multinational producer of road-surfacing machines headquartered in Karlskorna, Sweden.
They wanted a short, eye-catching video, showing of some of their machines and potential future features involving scanable QR-codes, in a way that woud reach outside of their established customer base.
As part of a student group at Hyper Island, I was part in the creation of this piece, as well as direct collaboration with DYNAPAC. Our whole group worked together to create the concept for the video, and we progressively developed a 3D storymatic, with increasing detail as the project came together.
We were provided full CAD-models from DYNAPAC, which had to be prepared for rendering in Cinema 4D - the program used for this project - because of their incredible detail. We ran the models through the C4D Polygon Reduction tool, finding a balance between performance and fidelity, and replaced materials and textures to better represent the real life look of the machines.
For the trancparency scene, which I was personally responsible for, I animated the materials to fade between the realistic paints and metals and a non-reflective glass, giving an X-ray like appearance, with orange, slightly glowing internal details to give the impression of a user being provided details about their machine, having scanned a QR-code.
I also aided in editing, and partly directed camera angles and motion and throughout the video.
